Trip Introduction

Khopra Valley Trek is a short yet magnificent way to explore the trekking in the Himalayas. We have come up with an itinerary that combines both Khopra Valley and the Poon Hill Trek. The itinerary is a blissful combination of the culture and nature which gives the visitors a wider perspective of the Nepalese culture and lifestyle while admiring the landscape as well as the beautiful views of the Himalayas. 

The itinerary starts from Nayapul and leads towards one of the beautiful villages of Gurung settlements. Further, the trek leads you towards Khopra danda passing through the attractive villages like Tadapani, Bayeli, Chistibang and finally to Khopra Valley. Khopra danda is situated in 3660m it is main destiny of the trek from where visitor can see panoramic, outstanding and breathtaking mountains view as Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche Peak (6800m), Nilgiri (6600m), Annapurna I (8091m) close view Annapurna South face (7219m), Hiuchuli (6441m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), Annapurna II (7937m) and Manaslu(8163m) etc. One of the major highlights of this trek is the visit to the Khayer lake. Khayar Lake situated at 4700m bottom of Annapurna South. Khayer lake is one of the holy lakes for the Hindu’s as many people come here for the sacred offerings and to offer their homage as a part of religious belief. Every year on the day of Janai Purnima a festival is held where lots of pilgrims come to Khayer lake for worship.  Then the trail will lead you towards Ghorepani and a visit to Poonhill. Poonhill is also one of the best places to view the mountains and then you will trace your footsteps back to Nayapul from where you will be taken to your hotel.

TRIP INCLUDES:

TRIP EXCLUDES:

  • Nepal arrival visa (USD25 for 15 days and USD40 for 30 days in Cash) and international flights.
  • Dinner and lunch in Kathmandu except for welcome and farewell dinner. 
  • Your equipment and other expenses such as mineral water, soft beverages, confectionaries, laundries, phone calls, hot drinking water, bar bills, showers, internet facility, battery chargers, multi plugs, etc. 
  • Your travel insurance that covers Helicopter evacuation as well as medical expenses and trip cancellation. 
  • Tips of a guide, porters, and driver as a token of appreciation. 
  • Monument entrance fee for a sightseeing tour in Kathmandu.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m)
Meals included: Dinner

Our airport representative will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu upon your arrival. He/she will escort you to the respective hotel in a private vehicle comfortably. Your prior trip meeting will be scheduled on the very day at the hotel before dinner. However, our airport representative will give you a brief idea about the second day’s schedule on your way to the hotel. During the meeting, we will introduce you to your leader/guide. Please do not hesitate to ask questions about your trek or anything that is related to your trip. To make you feel comfortable, we schedule a welcome dinner for you in a popular restaurant in the city where you can enjoy authentic Nepali meal along with cultural programs including ethnic dance and songs.

Day 02:  Sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley (1400m) and Trek preparation day
Meals included: Breakfast

After the breakfast, you will be visiting the different places in Kathmandu. There are many historic and cultural places that are of great significance in Kathmandu. You will get to see the major attractions of the city along with our professional guide and a private vehicle. The following are the major places that you will visit:
You will be visiting Patan Durbar Square, which has been listed in the UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. You can enjoy the age-old cultural heritage of the city. Boudhanath and Swayambhunath a sacred pilgrimage of the Buddhist and Pashupatinath, a very famous Hindu temple are the attraction of today’s sightseeing program. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 m) (approx. 6-7 hours) 
Total duration: 6-7 hours (Bus Ride) 
Meals included: Breakfast 

Today our guide will pick you up from the hotel and will escort you to the bus stop to catch the early morning bus tourist coach to Pokhara. Your journey is going to be a very pleasant one along the Trisuli River up till Muglin. You will have your breakfast and lunch on your way to Pokhara. After almost 6 hours of a pleasant road travel, you will reach Pokhara, known as the valley of Lakes. Pokhara is the famous valley and probably among the most popular tourist's destinations of Nepal. Once you reach Pokhara, you can spend rest of your day exploring the city or Phewa Lake. The night will be spent at a tourist standard hotel in Pokhara.

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul and trek to Ghandruk
Meals included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner

After having an early morning breakfast at the hotel, you will be escorted to Nayapul by your guide. It will take about an hour drive to reach Nayapul which is also the trek starting point. You will be walking for about half an hour until you reach Birethanti. Then crossing over a steel bridge over Modi Khola/ river, you will be heading towards the beautiful village of Ghandruk via Syauli Bazaar. Ghandruk is one of the old village resided by the Gurung’s one of the ethnic group of the country. Most of the youths are also engaged in the Indian and British army for their living. You can get to learn about the culture and traditions of the people living in the area. Overnight at a lodge in Ghandruk

Day 05: Trek to Tadapani
Meals included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner

As soon as you wake up your whole day gets brightened up by the beautiful view of the sunrise over the gigantic mountains from the hotel itself. After having your breakfast, you will start the trekking towards Tadapani. You will be following the trail alongside the forest, ups and down the small hills. Tadapani is also one of the best places to view the Himalayas. Overnight at a lodge in Tadapani

Day 06: Trek to Bayeli
Meals included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner

Today, you will be taking a secondary trekking route that leads you to the Khopra valley. You will be walking past the beautiful rhododendron forests. While on the way, you might as well get a glimpse of the Annapurna range. The trail starts to ascend above the tree line and follows a ridge to Deurali (small pass) and then continues up to Bayeli Kharka a beautiful place that sits in the middle of rhododendron forest. Overnight at a lodge in Bayeli.

Day 07: Trek to Chistibang 
Meals included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner

Today, you will be trekking through the grassy slope lands through the pasture lands where you might see the herders on the way. After walking for a few hours, you will reach a beautiful village of Chistibung. Overnight at a lodge at Chistibung.

Day 08: Trek to Khopra Danda
Meals included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner

From Upper Chistibung lodge there is a steady ascent through alpine meadows and pastures then as one approaches Kopra Ridge one sees the tip of Annapurna South. However it is only on arrival at Kopra community lodge that the full panorama is revealed: Mount Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Fang and Annapurna South can all be seen. After lunch, it is well worth going for a short walk down Kopra Ridge to a viewpoint overlooking Kali Gandaki river far below in this deep valley. Khopra danda is situated in 3660m it is main destiny of the trek from where visitor can see panoramic, outstanding and breathtaking mountains view as Mt. Day 09: Excursion to Khayer Lake
Meals included: Breakfast/ Lunch

Today is the day for the excursion to the beautiful Khair Lake (4600m) however it requires a good fitness level as you might have to trek for 9-10 hours. Khair Lake is also one of the pilgrimage sites for the Hindus as many people visit the site during the festival that occurs on Janaipurnima which generally lies in July or August as per the Georgian calendar. Overnight at a lodge in Khopra Danda/ Ridge. 

Day 10: Trek to Chitre
Meals included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner

Today you start the day trekking through the small trail through the ridge of a hillside. You shall descend following the same trail while reaching Khopra danda till Chistibung than we will ascend towards Swanta. The trail further leads to a small village of Chitre crossing the suspension bridge. Overnight at a lodge in Chitre.

Day 11: Trek to Ghorepani
Meals included: Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner

Today is the shortest day of trekking as you might have to walk for only 3 hours to reach Ghorepani. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the village or even resting as tomorrow is going to be a long trekking day. As you start walking through Chitre, you will be ascending through the stone steps to Ghorepani. Overnight at a lodge in Ghorepani.

Day 12: Excursion to Poonhill and trek back to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara
Meals included: Breakfast/ Lunch

Today is the longest day of the trek. Early in the morning, you will take an uphill trek towards the viewpoint of Poon Hill. It is the perfect place to view the sunrise over the snow-capped Himalayas. The mesmerizing view of the sun rays slightly over the mountains will keep you awestruck. Then you will be retracing your steps back to Ghorepani for a quick breakfast. Then you will be heading back to Nayapul via Ulleri. The trail passes through beautiful rhododendron forest continuing the trail to Tirkhedhunga. Rest for a while at Ulleri taking some picturesque views of the surrounding, then follow the stone steep steps downhill. Follow the trail of Bhurungdi Khola and crossing a small suspension bridge, you will reach the village of Birethanti. Just an hour walk you will reach Nayapul and then you will be transferred back to your hotel in Pokhara. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.    

Day 13: Drive back to Kathmandu
Meals included: Breakfast

You will return to Kathmandu from Pokhara on a tourist coach. After 7-8 hours of a drive, we will finally reach Kathmandu from where our journey began. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will be escorted to the hotel. You can freshen up and go shopping in the evening at Thamel which is famous for useful tourist’s products. Since today is your last day in Kathmandu, we host a farewell dinner where you can give your feedback regarding the services that we provided during the entire trip.We will stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 14: Depart Kathmandu 
Meals included: Breakfast

This is the last day of your trip with us. You can extend your trip for one or two days to visit other interesting places in and out of Kathmandu which is completely optional. If not then one of our staff will escort you to the airport as per your scheduled departure. You can roam around the city and buy souvenirs’ and do shopping to take along with you if your flight is scheduled during late hours.
