Gokyo valley trek is suited to those who wish to trek the Khumbu region in a peaceful environment with less number of trekkers. This trek won’t lead you to Everest base Camp or Kalapatthar but trekking to Gokyo itself is a triumph and contentment. Gokyo is a small village in Solukhumbu district of Nepal at the base of Gokyo RI, probably the only settlement that is located at the highest elevation (4,750 m/15,580 ft) in Nepal. The village consists of several huts to cater the trekkers visiting this area. This could be a perfect opportunity to observe the villages like Kunde, Khumjung and Namche where culture prevails over nature.
The trek begins from Lukla and follows the same path of Everest region for the first two days. This trek is as captivating as Everest base camp trek because it offers a breathtaking view of the Peaks including a closer view of Mt. Everest, age old Sherpa culture as well as the scenic beauty of the region that are to die for. You will come across pleasing lush of temperate vegetation, Sagarmatha National park, nice looking Sherpa villages and a cluster of enchanting glacial lakes on your way to Gokyo.

Spring Season (March to May) and autumn season (October to December) are considered to be the best season to travel this region because in monsoon the trails are slippery and there are probability of landslides and extreme winter season is not suggested because the visibility might get worse due to cloud and fog.
Classic Outdoors offers you a 14 days standard package for Gokyo Valley Trek that includes full accommodation with  hot baths and meal throughout the trek along with bed and breakfast in Kathmandu. You can get special discounts on groups. We ensure you a guaranteed departure on your chosen date. However, at times due to adverse weather conditions the flight might be delayed or cancelled for a day affecting the schedule. We always recommend you to add one night (three nights to the most) in Kathmandu after your trek if possible).

Besides, we have a 15 days Everest Base Camp Trek package that offers you a wonderful journey to Everest along with some quality time to explore Kathmandu city, do let us know beforehand so that we can arrange you trip accordingly without any hassles. You can also option for our Gokyo with Everest Base Camp Trek 18 Days. If the suggested itineraries are not up to the mark,we can even customize your trip as per you need with special group discount. It is also important to make sure that you can stay warm and dry in just about any conditions. Expect the unexpected!

You will not require heli rescue insurance for Tibet Tour as it is not possible to provide such facility.

  • Altitude Mountain sickness

AMS is the abbreviation for Acute Mountain sickness also termed as the High Altitude Sickness. AMS is one of the challenges that the trekkers/ climbers might face during their climb in the mountains. As you reach higher in the altitude the oxygen level gradually decreases. If a person tries to climb too quickly then there is a higher chance of getting AMS. The major symptoms of AMS is headache, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, tiredness, difficulty in sleeping. However, AMS can be avoided by using some precautionary measures such as drinking plenty of water, eating enough food and walking in the steady pace. Our experienced guides who have been working in the Himalayas will help and instruct you for further measures.

Classic Outdoor will provide a well-qualified and experienced guide who has a good knowledge about AMS as they can recognize the early symptoms and advise medications for instant relief. We have designed our trips in such a way that the clients get full acclimatization and proper rest. You will also be provided with a Gamow bag upon request at an additional charge which is considered a major gear to reduce the effect of AMS. In the worst case scenario, we shall arrange a rescue and evacuation using a helicopter whose cost should be covered by your travel insurance.

  • Acclimatization

We are experts at operating at high-altitude. Every trip we run has a realistic acclimatization programme. Our treks are designed to allow gradual height gain, spread over a number of days. There is no way of predicting who will suffer from altitude but, for the vast majority of people, a slow ascent to height will produce minimal effects. We can provide 'Gamow Bag' as a precautionary measure as per your request on hiring basis. Acclimatizing takes time and there are no safe shortcuts. All trips to altitudes in excess of 3,000 meters carry medicines essential to the treatment of altitude illness, and our leaders are trained to administer them and to know the symptoms.

  • Physical Fitness

We strongly recommend our clients for consulting the doctor before planning your holidays. You should obtain professional advice from a travel clinic or your local GP about which vaccinations to have before you arrive in Nepal. Your doctor will advise current inoculation requirements. If a doctor has recommended against travel or indicated travel may be inconvenient then inform us of the details. On all trekking and exploratory trips technical experience is not required, hiking/camping experience is an advantage, but by far the most important thing is a positive attitude and a generous amount of determination. We strictly maintain hygiene foods on the trek. We carry extensive medical kits and, if the need should ever arise, we are able to evacuate seriously ill group members by helicopter. We run regular first aid courses for our all trekking guides and Sherpa helpers.
