Visa Information

Visitors are required to get a visa before entering Nepal. Nepalese embassies or consulates abroad grants visa for Nepal. There is provision of on-arrival tourist visa at Tribhuwan International Airport or at the immigration office of any entry/exit point. One must hold a valid passport issued by the local government to visit Nepal. An on-arrival tourist visa is a multiple visa and is available for 15 days, 30 days and 90 days. While applying for the visa, the passport must be valid for at least six months along with two passport sized photos. However Indian Nationals do not require a visa to enter Nepal but they are supposed to show their passport or voter’s card issued by the election commission of India with the photograph issued by central or State government of India on arrival at any of the entry point. Children under the age of 10 years are not required to show any identification.

For the nationals other than Indian are required to get a visa to enter Nepal.

Tourist Visa:

Tourist entry visa can be obtained from Nepalese Embassy or Consulate or other mission offices or immigration offices located on entry points in Nepal. Chinese citizens have to apply Visa at Nepalese Embassy in China since on the spot visa is not provided from Tribhuvan International Airport.

Tourist Visa Extension:

Visas can also be extended following the policies of Nepal Government. Fees for tourist visa extension for 15 days or less is US$ 30. Tourist Visa can be extended for more than 15 days by paying US $ 2 or equivalent Nepalese currency per day. Tourist visas can be extended for a maximum period of 150 days in a year.
